Lake Chelan Winter Fest

If you think a Washington Winter is nothing but rain and fog, you haven’t heard about Lake Chelan.  Every year, locals enjoy 300 days of sunshine and once the snow falls, Lake Chelan turns into a winter wonderland.  Blue skies, evergreen trees and a spectacular lake view await you.

One highlight each year is The Chelan Valley Players’  “A Christmas Story,” December 9-10, 2011.  This dinner show opens at 6:30pm.  It’s a rousing presentation of Jean Shepherd’s holiday classic movie.  The show will also be broadcast live on KOZI on Friday, December 9th.  Tickets go on sale on November 4th for just $50 per person at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, through Brown Paper Tickets or by visiting the The Chelan Valley Players’  website: www.chelanplayers.com.

The Lake Chelan “Fire and Ice” Winter Fest takes place January 6-8 and 13-15, 2012.  It features sleigh rides, live music and a wonderful ice sculpture contest. There’s ice skating, a wine walk and more. In fact, there is something for just about anyone! Check out their Facebook page by clicking here.

If the outdoors are more your thing, snowmobiling becomes an art form as riders challenge on the 200 miles of well-marked well-groom trails.  Once you’ve braved the trail system once, you’ll be back again and again in years to follow. The fun begins each year around the first of December.

If snow skiing is more your speed, you’ll love The Lake Chelan Valley!  Whether you are up for the bunny trail or a real eye-popping challenge, everyone in the family will love skiing North Central Washington.  Echo Valley Family Ski and Tube Area boasts over 70 acres of ski terrain. Curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and chat with other skiers. It’s open on weekends and holidays from mid-December through mid-February (depending on local conditions).

Regardless of your interests, Lake Chelan promises blue skies and great adventures. If you come once, you’ll come again and again.
